A Christmas Gift To Use All Year

The leaves have all fallen off the trees, winter is now upon us and with Christmas fast approaching you may now be looking for that special gift.

Well forget about the expensive perfume that's saved for going 'out out' or the fancy chocolates which no one is going to thank you for in January and make Christmas special with a gift they can use all year - roller skates!

So why roller skates?

Well why not? They truly are the gift that keeps on giving.

1. Roller skating is recognised as a top aerobic exercise and is fantastic for cardiovascular health meaning that when January rolls around they will be all ready for their New Years, get fit resolution.

2. Roller Skating causes less stress on your joints than running so for those who have been looking for an alternative exercise route for that reason then this is definitely the answer.

3. Roller skating is SO much fun that it will definitely help relieve the post Christmas, winter blues that January brings and help keep you going until spring!

What skates should I buy?

There are so many different kinds of roller skates on the market that it can be difficult to know which ones to buy and you wouldn't be alone if you find it a little daunting and not sure where to start. For some helpful tips take a look at our previous blog 'What Skates Should I Buy?' Which should help you make a start.

What if they can't skate?

If the lucky recipient is not a skater then make your gift extra special by enrolling them on to one of our Learn to Skate courses. We provide lessons under the British Roller Sports Federation, Learn to Skate programme and can provide all the tuition they will need to get them rolling in no time at all and at just £30 for 6, one hour lessons they really are great value for money. We have lessons across Cardiff starting the second week of January, plus, if you buy one of our learn to skate gift vouchers and enter discount code HOHOHO before the end of the year, you will get £5 discount making it just over £4 per lesson!

Where to skate?

If the lucky recipient can already skate and will be ready to hit the rink with their shiny new wheels then they can join us every Friday evening at the Cardiff Roller Rink at the Cardiff City House of Sport, 7.00pm - 8.30pm. This public session runs every Friday for all ages and all abilities and is a great way to keep fit, have fun and meet new people as well as getting great use out of their great gift. Plus there's always someone on hand to provide a few hints and tips if needed.
